National Education Day

HISTORY

National Education Day is observed every year on 11 November to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Minister of Education of independent India. The day was officially declared as National Education Day by the Government of India in 2008.

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was a strong advocate of education and believed that quality education was essential for the progress and development of the nation. During his tenure, he played an important role in strengthening India’s educational system and promoting institutions of higher learning.
