Children’s Day

HISTORY

Children’s Day is celebrated every year on 14 November in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India. Born on 14 November 1889, Nehru had a deep affection for children and was popularly known as “Chacha Nehru.”

Children’s Day was established to honour his love and affection for children and to highlight the importance of providing every child with proper education, care and opportunities to grow. The day is celebrated in schools and institutions through various educational and cultural activities.
